About This Tour
Olengugih Safaris runs this private game drive from Nairobi. Your group gets its own open-roof 4x4 Land Cruiser and driver-guide for a listed six hours, with a game drive of five to six hours inside the park. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Nairobi, bottled water and a guided drive are included.
The price does not cover the KWS park entry fee, food and drinks or tips. The listing also offers an optional 30-minute lunch stop at an extra fee and an optional Giraffe Centre visit where the transport is free and you pay the entry. The park itself sits about 7 to 10 km from the Nairobi CBD depending on the route, and its gates open at 6:00 and close at 18:00.
$130 per person, one flat rate for the whole private group. It covers the vehicle, driver-guide, hotel pickup and drop-off and bottled water. The KWS park fee is paid on top.
6 hours listed, with a 5-6 hour private game drive in the park.
Not in the price. Non-residents pay $80 per adult and $40 per child to Kenya Wildlife Service, bought in advance on KWSPay.
Private, your group only, in an open-roof 4x4 Land Cruiser. The listing caps private groups at 50 people, though one Land Cruiser carries far fewer.
Hotel pickup and drop-off in Nairobi, morning or afternoon departure. The exact time is confirmed at booking.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start for a full refund, with reserve now and pay later.
Check Dates and Availability
Departures run morning or afternoon from Nairobi hotels. Check live times and the current price for your date on the listing.
How the Day Runs
The listing's own itinerary runs from a Nairobi hotel pickup to a 5-6 hour game drive, with an Ivory Burning Site stop and optional lunch and Giraffe Centre additions before the drop-off.
Stages of the Day
The listing publishes stage durations rather than clock times. A jeep or SUV transfer of about 30 minutes takes you from your Nairobi hotel to the park. The game drive inside runs 5 hours on the itinerary breakdown, with the listing describing it as 5 to 6 hours overall. You stop at the Ivory Burning Site Monument, where the guide explains Kenya's stand against elephant poaching. After the drive the itinerary lists an optional 30-minute lunch at an extra fee, then an optional 1-hour guided visit to the Giraffe Centre, also at an extra fee for entry, and a final 30-minute jeep transfer back to Nairobi.
The listing sets no fixed start clock times. Choose a morning departure for cooler air and more active animals, or an afternoon run for the lighter the platform calls golden, and confirm the exact pickup time when you book. With gates closing at 18:00, an afternoon booking still finishes well before dark.
Six stages from the listing's itinerary. Clock times are not published, so phases are named instead.

What the Price Covers
The $130 per person is the tour only. The listing ticks five items as included and lists park entry fees, food and drinks and tips as excluded.
Included and Excluded, Line by Line
The operator's Includes block on GetYourGuide lists transport in a 4X4 Land Cruiser Jeep, hotel pickup and drop-off, a guided game drive, bottled water and a driver-guide. Everything after those in the block is not included: food and drinks, park entry fees and tips. One honest note on the total: because the KWS fee is separate, the figure you see on the listing is not the figure you pay at the gate. Buy your park ticket yourself at least a day ahead on KWSPay, as the listing itself advises, so the bill holds no surprises and the gate line moves faster.
The optional Giraffe Centre stop follows the same rule: the drive there costs nothing extra, and you pay your own admission, Ksh 1,500 (about $15) for a non-resident adult, card or M-Pesa only.
| Line | In the price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| KWS park entry | No | $80 per adult and $40 per child for non-residents, paid on KWSPay before the day |
| Giraffe Centre entry | No | Ksh 1,500 (about $15) per non-resident adult, paid at the Centre, transport there is free |
| Open-roof 4x4 Land Cruiser | Yes | Private, your group only |
| Hotel pickup and drop-off | Yes | Nairobi hotels, morning or afternoon |
| Driver-guide and game drive | Yes | Guided, 5-6 hours in the park |
| Bottled water | Yes | Listed on the platform |
| Lunch | No | Optional 30-minute stop at an extra fee |
| Tips | No | Excluded by the listing |
| Platform checkout extras | Not stated | GetYourGuide shows the final figure at checkout, confirm there before paying |

Book It If, Skip It If
Book it if
- you want your group alone in an open-roof 4x4 Land Cruiser rated 4.9 from 73 reviews
- you want up to six hours with a 5-6 hour game drive, longer than the shared 5-hour listings
- you want an optional Giraffe Centre stop with free transport, paying only the Ksh 1,500 entry
Skip it if
- you want the park fee inside the price, since the $80 adult non-resident entry is paid on top, so the Private Land Cruiser, Fee Included at $257 bundles it, and the Private Half Day, All Fees In does the same for $194.81
- you want the Sheldrick elephant orphanage added, it is not part of this day, so the Private Park and Orphanage Drive adds it, or take the shared Park, Elephants and Giraffes Shared Day
- six hours is longer than you need, so the Private Half-Day Jeep Tour runs 4-6 hours from $90
Who This Tour Rules Out
A private 4x4 is the priciest way into the park. Some travellers get a better day from a different listing.
Check These Limits Before Booking
The $130 is charged per person, so the vehicle costs the same per head whether you travel alone or as a family. The KWS park fee then adds $80 per adult on top, a large second line on a $130 tour. If you want one price covering both, the Private Land Cruiser, Fee Included listing at $257 puts the fee inside, and the Private Half Day, All Fees In does the same for $194.81.
If six hours is longer than you need, the Private Half-Day Jeep Tour runs 4-6 hours from $90. If you want the Sheldrick elephant orphanage added, this listing does not include it, so look at the Private Park and Orphanage Drive or the shared Park, Elephants and Giraffes Shared Day. If budget leads, shared half-day drives start at $33.
No minimum age or wheelchair access is stated on the listing, so ask the operator before booking for young children or mobility needs. The listing carries a 4.9 rating from 73 reviews, a solid but modest sample compared with the bigger shared tours that count hundreds of reviews.

Pros and Cons
The strengths and the real costs of this listing, both taken from the listing and the official fee sheet.
What we genuinely like
- Your group alone in an open-roof 4x4 Land Cruiser, rated 4.9 from 73 reviews
- 6 hours listed with a 5-6 hour game drive, longer than the shared 5-hour drives
- Hotel pickup, drop-off, driver-guide and bottled water in the $130 price
- Optional Giraffe Centre stop with free transport, you pay only the entry
- Free cancellation 24 hours ahead, reserve now and pay later
The honest downsides
- The KWS park fee of $80 per adult and $40 per child for non-residents is paid on top, which nearly doubles the per-head cost for one adult
- One flat $130 per person, so a solo traveller or a pair pays the full rate with no group tiers
- No fixed start clock times are published, the pickup time is confirmed at booking
- The Sheldrick elephant orphanage is not part of this day
- 73 reviews is a small sample next to the shared tours with hundreds
Who it's NOT for: Not for travellers who want the park fee bundled into one price, the elephant orphanage added, or the lowest possible per-head cost.
Park Fee, Gates and What to Bring
This tour leaves the park paperwork to you. Do it a day early and the gate is quick.
Pay the KWS Fee Before the Day
Buy your entry ticket at least one day in advance on KWSPay at kwspay.ecitizen.go.ke, as the listing's own know-before-you-go text instructs. The portal takes M-Pesa, Visa and bank transfer. Non-residents pay $80 per adult and $40 per child. Keep the payment confirmation on your phone for the check at the gate. Booking ahead cuts the queue on busy mornings, weekends and holidays. The park gates open at 6:00 and close at 18:00.
Inside the park, stay in the vehicle with doors closed, keep at least 20 metres from wildlife, never feed the animals, and hold to the 40 km/h speed limit. Single-use plastic is banned across all KWS parks, so leave plastic bottles and bags out of your daypack.
The park covers 117 square kilometres, about 7 to 10 km from the Nairobi CBD depending on the route. KWS records more than 100 mammal species and four of the Big Five, with no elephants, plus more than 400 bird species. KWS calls July to December and December to March the high season for game viewing, and April to June the low season of the long rains, when some tracks turn muddy and 4-wheel-drive helps, which this vehicle is.
Pack for an Open Roof
KWS's visitor tips list drinking water, a camera, binoculars, sunscreen, insect repellent and sunglasses. In an open-roof Land Cruiser the sun and dust are real, so add a hat and earth-toned layers. Carry your passport or ID, which the listing asks for, in a plastic sleeve.
- Drinking water, a camera and binoculars
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
- Insect repellent and lace-up shoes
- Passport or ID card for the gate
- The KWSPay confirmation on your phone

What Travelers Said
Luka was a great guide for our half day trip! He is friendly and knowledgeable, and with his help we managed to see 10 rhinos (both black and white), a lion, plus many other different kinds of animals in Nairobi National Park. Highly recommended!
Great Safari with Calvin, the day wasn’t kind to us from a weather perspective but Calvin made sure we saw all the animals that were available to us in the park. Would definitely recommend doing this tour. Thanks again!!
I really enjoyed the Safari. My guide took the necessary time to show me around without a rush and was very knowledgeable.
Within hours of arriving in Kenya we had seen 4 of the big 5 an a lot more besides. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the animals, the plants and park history. I would thoroughly recommend this trip
The tour was worth every penny. The guide new a lot about the animals and how to spot them. He was super nice and his driving was safe. Pick up etc was on time.
Kevin was terrific from the beginning. He was on time, friendly and helpful. He was a careful and skilled driver both on the road and in the park. He was great at spotting animals and getting me in a good position to get the shot. He knew all about every animal in the park so not only did I get good photos, I learned from him as well. Overall Kevin and his group made this an awesome activity. The animals helped also.
Questions About This Tour
How much does this private tour cost?
$130 per person on GetYourGuide, flat for the private group, plus the KWS park fee of $80 per adult and $40 per child for non-residents paid separately. The price comparison on the homepage sets it against every other Nairobi National Park tour.
Is the KWS park fee included?
No. The listing excludes park entry fees, so you buy your own ticket in advance on KWSPay. See the fee table in What the Price Covers.
What animals will I see?
Nothing is guaranteed. The park holds four of the Big Five, with no wild elephants, plus more than 400 bird species over 117 square kilometres, per the park wildlife guide. The listing names lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and rhinos as species you may spot.
What time does the tour start?
The listing publishes no clock times. You choose morning or afternoon and the pickup time is confirmed when you book, with park gates open from 6:00 to 18:00 per the gates and hours guide.
What are the tour van charges at the park?
KWS charges a daily motor vehicle fee by seating capacity, from KES 600 for under 6 seats up to KES 5,000 for 45 seats and above, separate from the per-person entry fee. Operators handle it, as the KWS fee sheet sets out.
Can I visit the park without a tour instead?
Yes. Independent visitors pay the KWS fee themselves on the KWSPay portal and hire their own driver-guide, entering at the Main Gate on Lang'ata Road. This page's alternative is to skip the tour price and self-arrange that way.
Can I add the elephant orphanage to this tour?
Not on this listing, which covers the game drive and the optional Giraffe Centre only. For the 11am nursery hour, the Private Park and Orphanage Drive adds Sheldrick to a private day.
